Deuteronomy 30:19 (KJV)
“I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live”
The will of a human being is the most powerful and influential tool our Creator has given us. Our will determines the quality and even the outcome of the life we lead. It also determines whether we will see the manifestation of Gods goodness and power demonstrated in our lives.
Psalm 27:13 (NKJV)
“I would have lost heart, unless I had believed
That I would see the goodness of the Lord
In the land of the living.”
God’s grace provided all things that pertain to life and godliness. Everything we will ever need in this life has already been provided. It has already been given. The way we receive them is through faith. Faith though cannot be exercised without our will. We either choose to believe God’s word or not to believe it.
There are things we need to receive and exercise our will for, and there are things we need to resist and exercise our will against. Faith requires the exercising of our will to operate and it is the same with fear, it too requires the exercising of our will to operate.
Psalms 23:1, 4 (NKJV)
“The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want…Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.”
Notice how David sets his will against lack and fear. God can work with a person like that. But He cannot work with someone who yields to the evil one and to his suggestions. We need to rise up in the strength of our will and resist the devil, and all that he stands for, and when we do that, we will find the strength of God working for us and through us to bring what we decide to come to pass.
Job 22:28 (AMPC)
“You shall also decide and decree a thing, and it shall be established for you; and the light [of God’s favor] shall shine upon your ways.”
Far too often we put up with conditions, with habits, poverty, sickness and other ungodly things, simply because we are lazy and do not exercise our will against those things. God the Father has deposited in our spirits, all the power of heaven, all the faith, all the love, all the peace, all the joy, according to Galatians 5:22. But all these forces of life require the exercising of our will before they are released through us.
Waking up every morning and making the choice to walk by faith and to walk in love, regardless of our emotions, or the circumstances we find ourselves in is the key to life and victory.
