Romans 12:4-8 (NLT)

4 Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, 5 so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other. 6 In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you. 7 If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. 8 If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.

The word of God teaches us that we all have received certain gifts, callings, and functions within the body of Christ. All of us are gifted in some area through which we serve God and people, but not all are called to serve in the same way. There are different gifts, functions, and callings within the body of Christ.

Discovering the areas of your gifting is critical. It will equip you and enable you to be a faithful and productive member in the Kingdom of God. It serves no one, much less the Kingdom of God in trying to be someone you are not, or trying to function in an area you are not designed for. Focus on your strengths and gifting. Develop and exercise them under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

If you are struggling to identify the areas of your gifting, simply ask your designer. Talk to the Lord about it, read and meditate in the Word. As you pray and fellowship with the Lord, you will discover what you are passionate about. Let your passion direct you to your gift. Ask yourself what am I passionate about? What do I love doing?

It is also vital to avail yourself to the Lord and engage with the needs of your church family. Every family has needs; there are spiritual, practical, and financial needs. Your church family ought to be a place where you can freely exercise your gifts, as you learn to develop and mature in your walk with God.

It ought to be a place where you are allowed to make mistakes and learn from them.

Proverbs 18:16 (NKJV)

A man’s gift makes room for him, And brings him before great men.

Your gift will open doors, present you with opportunities and prepare a platform for you. Find your gift, find your grace, find your passion and devote yourself to exercising your gifts and talents.
